Background
Down in the Languedoc in southern France and only a stone's throw from the Mediterranean, lies Villa Noria and their organic and biodynamic vineyards.
Tasting notes
An aromatic orange wine with delicate floral notes of rose, quince and apple. The palate is fresh, fruity and harmonious finishing with a little grip, leaving an impression of pleasant tension.
Winemaking
Their 'Amfora' Orange wine lives up to its name with its vibrant orange hue, achieved by allowing the white grapes to remain in contact with their skins for an extended period—three months—in the winery. After fermentation, the wine is aged in terracotta amphorae, adding unique character. This natural wine is a blend of organically or biodynamically grown white grape varieties, including Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains, Sauvignon Gris, Pinot Gris, and Piquepoul, all harvested during the cool night hours to preserve their freshness. Made without added sulphur, this wine boasts some of the lowest sulphite levels we've encountered.
Food pairings
Pairs well with North African and Middle Eastern style cuisine such as tangine and koftas, as well as lamb in general, roast vegetables and meatier seafood such as octopus and salmon.
