Background

Château Coutelin Merville is a cru bourgeois located in Saint-Estephe. The estate has been under the ownership of the Estager family for over 100 years. Today Bernard and Francois are in charge of the Domaine and follow sustainable practices in the vineyard.

Tasting notes

Aromas of red fruits, vanilla and spice. Impressive tannins on the finish although mellowed from the extended ageing.

Winemaking

After hand-harvesting and traditional fermentation, the blend is assembled, then aged for 18 months in oak barrels (20% new).

Food pairings

Oxtail stew, roast loin of lamb, matured soft cheese.
