Background
Refusing to bend to fashion trends, The Gaffeliere family claims a vintners’ signature, typically French, inscribed between tradition and modernity. "This respect of the terroir is linked to our origins. We are born here in this vineyard with its unique location backing onto the southern hillside of St Emilion."
"The blend of wines from the slope and the foot of the hillside produces a nectar, which is powerful, racy and silky. This harmony is found in each vintage of our estate.
We like to share our wine, to show its finesse and elegance, the result of a know-how passed down through generations."
Tasting notes
Sweet black-fruit nose, a rich silky palate, some nice tannins, bright acidity and quite a long, serious finish. Lots of complex, savory character.
Winemaking
Integrated farming. Pruning in single and double Guyot, grass cover between rows, leaf removal and green harvest. Hand picked into small crates. Malolactic fermentation in tanks and barrels. Merlots and Cabernets Francs are aged
separately. Final bend at the end of the aging. Aged 14 months in one- and two-year barrels.
Food pairings
Herb crusted saddle of lamb, Steak Diane, mature hard cheeses.
