Background
In 1981, when he was twenty years old, Jean-Luc Joillot, the third generation at the estate, took up the torch in collaboration with his mother Simone Joillot. They then worked six hectares of vines under the new label “Domaine Jean-Luc Joillot”.
In the 1990s, Jean-Luc Joillot married Lydia Joillot (née Dessaint). Together, they developed the estate by exporting their wines and acquiring a plot of Pommard 1er Cru “Les Charmots” and a plot of Pommard 1er Cru “Les Epenots”. Lydia gave birth to their daughter Jeanne Joillot in 1995.
In the Pommard locality, the vineyards extend over 700 hectares, 350 of which are part of the Pommard appellation, planted using the Pinot Noir grape variety only.
