Background
The Choblet family go back many generations and they are consistently rated as one of the Appellation's best producers. Their Muscadet vineyards are in the renowned Cru area surrounding the 260 hectare Côtes de Grand-lieu lake, which benefits from an exceptional microclimate: the warmth of the Atlantic brings spring on early, while the huge Lac de Grandlieu acts like a giant storage heater through the growing season, giving extra ripeness and more fruit to the wines.
Tasting notes
Fresh mineral nose with a hint of saltiness. Aromas of quince, lime and grapefruit peel develop. The palate is rich and lush, but with an incredible freshness still running through. The finish lingers, urging you to contemplate but then want more. A spectacular and intriguing wine.
Winemaking
Parcel selection from 75 year old vines. Temperature controlled vinification then left in an underground tank for 8 years on its lees, with stirring only twice during the first year, then nature looks after it for the rest.
Food pairings
When slightly chilled it goes very well with fish! But also charcuterie boards, chicken and spicy dishes.
