Background
The tradition of Beaujolais Nouveau began in France but has grown into a worldwide phenomenon. No producer is more closely tied to this wine than Georges Duboeuf, often called the “King of Beaujolais,” who brought the style to international fame in the 1960s. Today, the release of Duboeuf’s Nouveau is marked by festivals and parties across the globe, making it one of the most anticipated wine events of the year.
Tasting notes
Colour: Bright ruby-purple, glowing with youth.
Aroma: Fresh strawberries, cherries, and redcurrants, lifted by violets and a touch of spice.
Palate: Juicy, lively, and silky, with soft tannins and a refreshing finish. An exuberant, fruit-driven wine that delights from the first sip.
Winemaking
Beaujolais Nouveau is made entirely from the Gamay grape, grown in the granite-rich soils of southern Beaujolais. To highlight its fresh, fruity character, the grapes undergo carbonic maceration, a traditional winemaking method that enhances bright berry flavours and softens tannins.
