Every year on the third Thursday in November, wine lovers around the world raise their glasses in unison — it’s Beaujolais Nouveau Day, the global celebration of youth, harvest, and shared joy.

With the arrival of the 2025 vintage, Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais Nouveau captures that moment in a bottle: bright, energetic, and brimming with fruit. Bottled just weeks after harvest, this wine is made to be uncorked and enjoyed now, not aged. It embodies the festive spirit of the day — fresh, spirited, and perfect for gathering friends.

    About the 2025 harvest

The 2025 vintage is generous in fruit profile but marked by low yields, down by as much as a third in some vineyards. Early summer rains affected flowering and berry formation, while the rest of the summer was largely dry and warm. A couple of timely storms in late August helped complete ripening, ensuring balance and freshness in the grapes.

As a result, the 2025 Beaujolais Nouveau is ripe, elegant, and fruit-forward, comparable in quality to the highly regarded 2020 and 2023 vintages. Georges Duboeuf himself describes it as “a lovely Beaujolais, packed with fruit” — a wine that fully expresses the charm of Gamay.

        Background

The tradition of Beaujolais Nouveau began in France but has grown into a worldwide phenomenon. No producer is more closely tied to this wine than Georges Duboeuf, often called the “King of Beaujolais,” who brought the style to international fame in the 1960s. Today, the release of Duboeuf’s Nouveau is marked by festivals and parties across the globe, making it one of the most anticipated wine events of the year.

        Tasting notes

Colour: Bright ruby-purple, glowing with youth. Aroma: Fresh strawberries, cherries, and redcurrants, lifted by violets and a touch of spice. Palate: Juicy, lively, and silky, with soft tannins and a refreshing finish. An exuberant, fruit-driven wine that delights from the first sip.

        Winemaking

Beaujolais Nouveau is made entirely from the Gamay grape, grown in the granite-rich soils of southern Beaujolais. To highlight its fresh, fruity character, the grapes undergo carbonic maceration, a traditional winemaking method that enhances bright berry flavours and softens tannins.

        Food pairings

Best served lightly chilled (12–14 °C), this is a wine made for sharing. Pair it with:
        Charcuterie, pâté, or rustic terrines
Roast chicken, turkey, or festive glazed ham
Soft cheeses such as Brie or Camembert
Fresh baguette, seasonal salads, or simple bistro fare
