Background
Situated in Montepulciano, Poliziano is a family-owned winery celebrated for its Vino Nobile di Montalcino red wines. The estate draws its name from the Renaissance poet Angelo Ambrogini, famously known as Poliziano. ‘`Asinone` hails from a 12-hectare vineyard situated at an elevation ranging from 380 to 400 meters above sea level. Crafted from Sangiovese grapes, some vintages might also include 10% of Colorino and Canaiolo.
Tasting notes
A fresh, fruit driven wine with palate cleansing acidity and just the right amount of tannins to pair with a wide variety of foods.
Winemaking
With harvesting done by hand, fermentation takes place in conical stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature. The wine is then aged for about 8 months with between 20% and 40% aged in oak casks.
Food pairings
Pairs well with game meats, especially pork, as well as mature cheeses.
