Background
Quinta da Lixa is located in the sub region of Sousa, the Vinho Verde Demarcated Region, in the North of Portugal. The Vinho Verde vineyards are exposed to the Atlantic Ocean winds and influence. Soils, microclimate, grape varieties and the unique characteristics of the wine culture, distinguish it from all other wine regions of the world.
Tasting notes
Fruity, floral notes, fresh and well balanced. The nose is aromatic green apple, melon and white peach. The palate is balanced, smooth with a generous texture and a touch of petillance. White peach, apples and tangerine on the palate leading to a long, crisp finish.
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested by hand, quickly transported to the winery where they are destemmed and soft pressed at low pressure to retain delicate aromatics of the fruit. Fermentation in stainless steel, temperature controlled tanks at 12º-14º over three weeks.
Food pairings
Great as an aperitif - or serve with light salads, sushi, fish, oysters and seafood.
